Current and future truck drivers, don't let unknown or incorrect information have a negative effect on your career. A poor driving record could easily hurt your career, even if you didn't do anything wrong (eg., if your driving record is incorrect). You may be wondering, "if I have a clean record, why should I worry?". Simple, identity theft is on the rise (yes, it's possible for someone to be driving around with a license that has your name and information on it) and also your records can get "screwed up". Errors and inaccuracies on your driving record could be a major pitfall. It would be wise to check for inaccurate information before you apply for a truck driving job or to a truck driving school. Don't let mistakes stop your career.

You can bet most if not all employers will check driving records as they know past performance is an indicator of future performance. Plus many states may have negligent hiring laws where it's the employer's obligation to check employee's backgrounds. (ie., the employer may be held responsible for injures especially if they didn't perform appropriate research including investigating criminal records, driving records, etc...) This is true for any type of driving job and especially true in the trucking industry.
Therefore, it would be wise to occationally check your own records. You don't even need to waste your time standing in line as using online resources to quickly search driving record or DMV information to is an easy option.
